In mold processing, the discharge machining process is as follows:

Electrical discharge machining is a non-contact machining. There is a gap of 0.2-0.01mm between the tool electrode and the workpiece, and the gap is filled with working fluid. There is no macroscopic cutting force during the machining process. When discharging, the average value of local instantaneous explosive force is very small, which will not cause deformation and displacement of the workpiece.

Because metal materials are processed using electrical and thermal energy, which is independent of the strength and hardness of the material, soft electrodes can be used to process hard workpieces.

Can process any difficult to machine metal and conductive materials. The machinability of a material depends on its conductivity and thermal properties, such as melting point, boiling point, specific heat, thermal conductivity, and electrical resistivity. It is independent of the mechanical properties of the material. This can break through the limitations of traditional cutting tools.

Can process complex surface shapes. Electrical discharge machining can easily copy the shape of the tool electrode to the workpiece, which is suitable for the surface processing of complex workpiece.

Can process special parts. A process that can process special parts such as thin-walled, flexible, low stiffness, micro holes, irregular holes, and long holes.
